About Birthworkers of Central Ohio
Mission Statement
Birth Workers of Central Ohio is a diverse group
of childbirth educators, doulas, midwives, lactation consultants, nurses,
and other professionals committed to informed choice and safe births
for mothers and babies.
We endorse the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative
developed by the Coalition
for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS).
We support each other, individually and as a group,
in our efforts to expand the birthing options available to women and
their families in Central Ohio. Through community education, we are
dedicated to raising public awareness of these options.
Meetings
We meet the third Monday of every other
month, starting in January, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Northwood
High Building on the OSU Campus. The only exception is the month
of January, when we meet on the fourth Monday.
The Northwood High Building is located at 2231
North High Street. This is two blocks north of Lane Avenue in the
university area. We're in the community room on the first floor.
Free parking in back.
On alternate months, starting in Februrary, we
hold social meetings during which we focus on non-business related
topics, and are usually loose and very informal. Meeting locations
vary, typically being held at members homes. If you are interested
in coming to a social meeting and have not yet been to a regular
meeting, please contact one of our members
for information.
We eagerly welcome new members! Join for networking,
brainstorming, and light refreshments. All those working with expectant
or new mothers are encouraged to attend!
Officers
Birthworkers of Central Ohio has several
elected offices. Current officers are listed
here.
